Chair of Trustees vacancy

We are looking for a thoughtful, values-led woman to become the next Chair of Trustees of Lotus Families.

For 30 years, we have supported women, children and families affected by domestic and familial abuse across East Sussex and Brighton and Hove. This is an important time to join us. Demand for our services remains high, the funding environment is challenging and we are determined to protect the safety and quality of our work while building a sustainable future.

Our new Chair will lead an engaged Board, support strong and proportionate governance and work in constructive partnership with our experienced CEO.

We are looking for someone who can bring people together, encourage open and constructive discussion and help the Board maintain its strategic focus. Previous experience as a Chair is welcome but is not essential. We welcome women who bring relevant leadership, governance, community or lived experience and who share our commitment to safer futures for women and families.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, with reasonable local travel expenses reimbursed. The Board meets four times a year, normally in person in East Sussex, and the Chair also meets the CEO quarterly. Applicants should live within reasonable travelling distance of East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

The expected start date is January 2027, with an appropriate handover from our current Chair.

Applications will remain open until the role is filled. Before being formally offered the role, you will be invited to observe a Board meeting in Newhaven.

Meetings take place from 10am to 12 noon during the last working week of October, January, April and July. You will be invited to the next available meeting.
